April 1 - Interational Guitar Month

Happy International Guitar Month! in April inspires the world to strum and pick their way through chords to sweet serenity.

Whether you play guitar or your talent is in listening, the month is wide open to ways to celebrate. Guitars bring joy whether we play them or listen to the music they produce.

There are several ways to play this month.  Whatever you do, make sure there is a guitar involved.  Use #InternationalGuitarMonth to share on social media.

  • • Dust off the Fender and get in tune. See if those old calluses remember how to play.

  • Vinyl is back. Visit the local music shop and find your favorite guitar solo.

  • • Classical, electric, steel, acoustic, bass, no matter what your style of guitar is, stop by the local guitar shop.  You know you want to.

  • • Get a custom guitar tattoo.

  • • Write a new song.

  • • Go to a concert.

  • • Schedule your OWN concert.

  • • Explore the history of other musical instruments. Read 5 Tuneful Origins of Celebrated Musical Instruments.

April 1 - National Walking Day

Happy National Walking Day! The first Wednesday in recognizes this day, and it encourages Americans of all ages to get out and stretch their legs and get their hearts pumping.

The American Heart Association sponsors this day to remind people about the health benefits of taking a walk. Wear your sneakers (or take them with you) to work, and at some point in the day, take a thirty-minute walk.

Here are some great ways to make that thirty-minutes more enjoyable:

  • • Wear comfortable clothes.
  • • Take a friend to pass the time.
  • • Make sure to stretch those muscles.
  • • Drink plenty of water.
  • • Move your arms, too.
  • • Make sure you have good posture.

HOW TO OBSERVE

Take thirty minutes out of your day to go for a walk. Find a trail near you or walk around your neighborhood. You can also visit a local park or walk on your treadmill.

Take your canine pals with you as well. They need the cardiovascular workout, too!

When the family has finished your walk around the block or park, complete this fun word search puzzle by visiting the website below:

Do you need some visual inspiration while walking on the treadmill?

Take this walk along the beach.
