March 6 - National Dress Day

Happy National Dress Day! On March 6th, today reflects on memorable events when we recall dearest memories by what we were wearing.

Dresses have been worn for hundreds of years. Today, they come in a variety of shapes and designs. From long, mini, fit and flare to the ball gown and A-line, there are many ways to celebrate.

Throughout the years, dress designs have changed drastically! However, they still provide a distinctive look and one-of-a-kind fit adding a level of poise and confidence to any event.

On our most important days, we seek out the perfect dress made for the occasion.  Whether it is prom, an interview, a first date, or a big wedding day, National Dress Day will give us all a reason to relive some of our dearest memories.

March 6 - National Dentists Day

Happy National Dentists Day! On March 6th, today sets aside a day each year for us to say, “Thank you” to the person who keeps our pearly whites in tip-top order every six months.

In many cases, the day of our dental visit usually has us a bit nervous and sometimes anxious. We would often rather be someplace else than sitting in a dental chair. The dentist is not the person most of us look forward to seeing.

However, when our checkup is done, our teeth are cleaned, the cavities are filled, the broken tooth is fixed, or a toothache is gone, we appreciate what the dentist has done for us.

The dentist is also the person we count on when a tooth aches or an emergency occurs. They make sure our oral health isn’t signifying something more serious.

Their offices send out reminders, encouraging us to come in for our routine check-ups and schedule us for appointments. They create plans of care and make our smiles look great as well.

HOW TO OBSERVE

Take some time to thank your dentist. While you’re at it, schedule your next preventative cleaning. Pick up a new toothbrush and some floss, too! Use #NationalDentistsDay to post on social media.

HISTORY

National Day Calendar® continues to research the origins of this healthcare observance. And that's the tooth, the whole tooth, and nothing but the tooth.

March 6 - National Employee Appreciation Day

Happy National Employee Appreciation Day! On the first Friday in March each year, this day focuses our attention on any and all of the employees in all industries.

Employers across the country in business and organizations plan employee recognition and celebrations. Employee achievement and contributions are honored.

Employees are one of a company’s greatest assets. Recognition and appreciation are known as one of the key motivational factors in the workplace. An employer may show their gratitude for an employee’s efforts and contributions to the goals of the company in a variety of ways.

Many organizations include employee appreciation as part of their business structure. It shows how much they value their employees and keeps morale high in the workplace. Employers who express employee appreciation tend to increase employee job satisfaction as well.

While showing your employees how much you appreciate them, ask them how they like to be thanked. Employers might find a general consensus of three or four ways that might best serve your industry overall. It might also save some head-scratching as well.

Did you go over budget on an ice sundae bar last year when what you’re team really likes are discounted services to the local chiropractor? In the spirit of enthusiasm, consider the nature of your business and how your employees celebrate, too.

While employees’ personalities differ, most employees are goal-driven people. Earning an award, a thank you or recognition motivates them to reach even higher goals to the benefit of any business or organization.
HOW TO OBSERVE

Great Ways To Show Your Employees Some Appreciation

  • • Be Flexible – Flexibility goes a long way in this virtual reality world. If possible within your industry, allowing a little flexibility can reap huge benefits when you need last-minute work done.
  • • A Thank You Note – When a job has been done well, a heartfelt, hand-written thank you means more than a slap on the back or an e-mail sent off at the end of the day.
  • • Team Effort Celebration – If the team pulled together and made it happen, reward them with an office pizza party, casual dress day or even close the office early so they can spend some well-earned time with family.
  • • Get Caught – Make sure the employee hears you telling someone else you thought they did a great job.
  • • Create a Culture of Encouragement – Employees who expand their horizons bring new skills to your workforce and will encourage others to do so too. Praise their achievements and encourage others to pursue their goals.
If you have employees, be sure to show them some appreciation and use #EmployeeAppreciationDay to post on social media.
