January 02 - World Introverts Day

Happy World Introverts Day! On January 2nd, the first World Introvert Day was held in 2011.

Today started when German psychologist and book author Felicitas Heyne published the blog post below in calling for a day for us quiet ones. She is also the developer of the iPersonic system for personal development, which is available in twenty-six languages.

Let's face it: introverts are a misunderstood minority. We live in an extroverted world, and introverts often appear to be arrogant and strange...which they aren't. Introverts just work differently is all.

And let's not forget that although introverts might be a minority, they are also a majority in the gifted population.

Most famous scientists, philosophers, artists and thinkers are introverted. Introverts do in fact shape the world we live in. But they also have to face specific health risks, job-related problems and often difficult relationships.

Let's take a moment on today and think about what it means to be an introvert. After all, a better understanding of introversion will lead us to a better world.

HOW TO OBSERVE

Do you know or have an introvert in your life? If so, then give them a shout out! Or you could just slide a note under their door or send them an email. They’d probably appreciate the latter. Use #IntrovertDay to post on social media.
