November 5 - National Love Your Red Hair Day

Happy National Love Your Red Hair Day! Gingers rejoice! Today celebrates the beauty of those gorgeous auburn tresses annually on November 5.

There’s no reason to be shy. Redheads get the spotlight to show of the unique qualities of red hair.

Many redheads feel like outcasts for having red hair. This celebration empowers redheads to feel confident, look amazing, and rock their beauty.

Red hair is more than a color; it’s a lifestyle. Besides, redheads are rare.

Less than two percent of the population are crowned with red hair. And those that are may very well be left-handed as well.

Most natural-born redheads (yes, some of them like the bottle) have brown eyes, followed by green or hazel.

Red hair occurs naturally in one to two percent of the human population, appearing with greater frequency among people of Northern or Northwestern European ancestry and lesser frequency in other populations.

Coming in at one percent of the world’s population, the blue-eyed ginger is the rarest kind.

And redheads do stand out in a crowd. So, each unique and impressively stunning redhead gets to show off their locks.

HOW TO OBSERVE

Redheads gather together. Show your red hair in all its glory. Short, long, curly, or straight, red hair gets the spotlight.

Celebrate your beauty by posting photos of your red hair on social media using #LoveYourRedHairDay.

HISTORY

In August 2015, National Love Your Red Hair Day was submitted by Adrienne and Stephanie Vendetti, co-founders of How to be a Redhead. They are also sisters, best friends, and natural-born redheads.

In 2015, How to be a Redhead brand released its beauty book and subscription box.

Each year on November 5th, redheads can celebrate their locks to the fullest.

In April 2016, the Vendetti sisters wrote a self-help book entitled How to Be a Redhead: A Guide to Beauty, Skincare, Hair Care, Fashion and Confidence From the Sisters Who Started the Red Hair Revolution.

The Registrar at National Day Calendar® declared the observance to be celebrated annually on November 5.
