"You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!"
Doo-doo-doo-doo! Doo-doo-doo-doo!
Always observed on May 11, National Twilight Zone Day features mysterious twists and turns highlighted with eerie background music and unexplainable occurrences.
The American black and white anthology television series The Twilight Zone (marketed as Twilight Zone for its final two seasons) premiered on CBS on October 1, 1959.
The episodes were wildly popular, stretched the imagination, and captivated viewers. The show was created, written and narrated by American screenwriter, playwright, television producer and narrator Rod Serling.
Later on, he created the show’s spin-off, this being NBC's American anthology television series Night Gallery (1970–1973).
Each episode of The Twilight Zone presented unique stories that led the viewer on a journey into an unknown situation. The characters often revealed their backstories through intense exchanges.
Settings ranged from the wild west to penthouse suites. And yet each story took place in the fifth dimension, in The Twilight Zone.
According to the June 22, 1997 list for TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All-Time, To Serve Man (S03E24) ranked in at #11. Also, It's a Good Life (S03E08) ranked in at #31.
