March 16 - Jerry Lewis


Happy Birthday, Jerry Lewis! Born today in 1926 as Jerry Levitch, (better known by his stage name Jerry Lewis), this American humanitarian, comedian, singer, actor, screenwriter, film producer and film director was dubbed as "The King of Comedy" and "The Total Filmmaker". 
  
As an actor, Lewis is best known for co-starring in Frank Tashlin's 1955 American Technicolor musical comedy film 'Artists and Models' (alongside Dean Martin) and in Martin Scorsese's 1982 American satirical black comedy mystery/crime film 'The King of Comedy'. 
  
As a filmmaker, Lewis is best known for directing and starring in the 1961 American Technicolor comedy/slapstick film 'The Ladies Man' as well as the 1963 American Technicolor comic sci-fi/romance film 'The Nutty Professor'. 
  
Lewis had been active from 1931–2017.
