March 1 - Phil Alden Robinson


Happy 70th Birthday, Phil Alden Robinson! Born today in 1950, this American screenwriter and film director is known for his 1989 American fantasy-drama sports film 'Field of Dreams', the 1992 American comedy caper crime/thriller film 'Sneakers' and the 2002 American spy/thriller drama film 'The Sum of All Fears'. 
  
Of these, Robinson is best known for writing and directing 'Field of Dreams'. The film was adapted from Canadian novelist and short story writer William Patrick "W.P." Kinsella's 1982 magic realist fantasy fiction novel Shoeless Joe. 
  
In 2017, 'Field of Dreams' was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant". 
  
Robinson has been active from 1981–present.
