Happy Birthday, Elmar Klos! Born today in 1910, this Czechoslovak film director collaborated for seventeen years with his Slovak colleague, Hungarian-born Slovak film writer and director of Jewish heritage Ján Kadár.
Along with him in early April 1965, Klos won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 37th Academy Awards for the film of which he is best known for co-writing and co-directing: the 1965 Czechoslovak black and white drama/war film 'Obchod na korze' ('The Shop on Main Street').
Klos had been active from 1935–1989.
